Meet Sharon

Sharon Bronson was first elected to the Pima County Board of Supervisors in November 1996, and has been working hard for Pima County ever since.

Since her election to the Board, Bronson has led the charge for balanced smart growth strategies and was instrumental in the development and implementation of Pima County’s award-winning Sonoran Desert Conservation Plan.

Sharon was the first woman to serve as Chair of the Pima County Board of Supervisors, a post she held twice for a total of six years.

Among many leadership roles over the years, Sharon has also served as:

  • President of the County Supervisors Association of Arizona
  • President of the U.S./Mexico Border Counties Coalition
  • Co-chair of Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. (TREO)
  • President of the Tucson Chapter of the Arizona Women’s Political Caucus
  • Chair of the Neighborhood Coalition of Greater Tucson

Sharon has earned numerous distinctions and awards over the years for her service to the community, including:

  • The Common Ground Award-Milagro Park from the Metropolitan Pima Alliance
  • The AZ Women’s Community Leadership Award from the AZ Women’s Conference
  • Special Recognition Award from the Arivaca Fire Department
  • Appreciation Award from the Pima County Sheriff’s Department
  • Friend of the Trails Award from the Pima Trails Association
  • Women on the Move Award from the YWCA
  • Appreciation Award from the Marana Unified School District
  • Friend of the Court Award from the Pima County Juvenile Court
  • The 2007 Gold and Community Service Awards from LULAC, the League of United Latin American Citizens

Sharon earned a degree in Business Administration/Accounting with Distinction from the University of Arizona and is a member of the Business Honorary Beta Gamma Sigma.  She and her husband, Otis, a retired Pima Community College professor, live in the Tucson Mountains.  Their daughter, Kali, is a hydrologist in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Sharon has worked tirelessly for 12 years to support and empower community and neighborhood organizations throughout the district, and looks forward to serving the residents of District 3 for another four years.
